Arletta M. McCloy Arletta M. McCloy, 79, of Miles passed away on September 26, 2016 at Crestride Care Center in Maquoketa.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Preston. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 30 from 4:00 7:00 p.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service to follow . Burial will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery in Preston. Lahey Funeral & Cremation Service of Maquoketa is assisting the family.
Arletta M was born on September 11, 1937 to William and Elizabeth (Franzen) Laughlin in Jackson County. She graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1957. On January 17, 1959 she was united in marriage to Eugene McCloy at Sylvia Switch. Arletta worked at Bontown Café in Maquoketa, as a CNA at Maquoketa Hospital, for 29 years she worked for Miles Locker and then worked for Preston Locker.
She was a member of St. josephs Catholic Church. She enjoyed raising chicken, ducks, geese, turkey, and rabbits. She also loved going to her grandchildrens sports events, hunting, fishing and camping. She sponsored a soccer team and also donated chicken eggs to Bell School for the class to incubate.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children; Alice (Richard) Henshaw of Maquoketa, Jeannie (David) Taplin of Preston, Mary Jo (Randy) Reistroffer of Bryant, Steve (Mary) McCloy of Miles, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three sisters; Betty (Oliver) Mesch of Cuba City, Geraldine (LeRoy) Ehlers of Andrew and Elaine (Gerald) Ehlers of Anamosa, sister-in-laws; Ruth Gerlach, Mary Frondle, and Shirley McCloy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother William Jr.
