Barbara A Morthland, 78, of Sterling passed away on Sunday, April 30th, 2017 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Illinois.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at her daughter's house. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the cremation. Memorials may be made to the Firehouse of God Ministry
Barbara Ann Johnson was born on April 4, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Andrew and Laura (Heath) Johnson. She was a 1957 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Clarence Morthland on February 7, 1959 in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002.
Between 1965 and 1984 she worked at the Clinton Paper Company and Lincolnway Motors. In 1984 they moved to Las Vegas where they lived until November 2001 returning to Sterling to make their home in Sterling, Illinois.
She was a member of the Firehouse of God Church in Sterling where she served on the church board. She also cooked and served meals at the church for those in need and making her famous beans for church functions
Barbara is survived by her three children: Randall (JoAnn) Morthland of Thomson, Denise (Ken) Sisson of Sterling and David (Barbe) Morthland of Malibu, California; one granddaughter: Megan (Ryan) Bares of Chaska, Minnesota; 8 step grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren and 7 step great great grandchildren; one sister Ruth Hamann of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence and six siblings.
