Caroline Rich was born on February 3, 1928 in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Maurice and Virginia (Sublett) Rich. She was a 1946 graduate of Clinton High School. She married David E. Clizbe on June 6, 1947 in Clinton; he passed away on March 16, 2016.
Caroline was a homemaker who, with her husband Dave, raised five children in a loving home in Hockessin, Delaware before returning to Clinton to live where she grew up. She enjoyed playing cards and was especially active with bridge clubs in Wilmington and Clinton, and also always kept an ongoing gin rummy game at home with her husband.
Caroline enjoyed song birds, with a consistent eye and ear lent to her favorite wrens while arranging her flower gardens - this always made her happy. Her family and friends looked forward to her apple pies and special potato salad. She also enjoyed traveling, playing golf, crossword puzzles, and spending time at the family cabin. She was an avid reader, always reading good books and sharing her favorites with the family.
Caroline is survived by her children: Stephen (Mireya) Clizbe of Cobb, California, Debra (Mike Dietrick) Delaney of Clermont, Florida, Nancy (James) Patti of Clinton, Iowa, Keith (Barbara) Clizbe of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and Scott Clizbe of Davenport, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and four brothers.
Memorials can be made to the Clizbe Charitable Foundation.
