Carolyn Jean Ooton Jeanie Carolyn Jean Ooton, "Jeanie" of Camanche passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Finley Hospital - Dubuque.
Funeral Services will be noon, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery - Camanche. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald Ooton, Kenneth Ooton, Kirby Ooton, Karl Steinhour, William Finke and Trinity Hansen. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the funeral home.
Carolyn Jean Ooton was born November 1, 1941 in Comanche, Oklahoma, the daughter of Floyd and Flora (Lewis) Rouse. She graduated with honors from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. She married James Ooton on May 7, 1966 in Louisiana, Missouri.
Jeanie enjoyed time spent traveling with her husband Jim in their RV. They visited many beautiful parks where she and Jim enjoyed the view of mountains and lakes. She and Jim loved photographing nature and wildlife.
Children loved Jeanie and she adored all of her nieces and nephews throughout the years including a great great great niece and three great great great nephews.
Being involved in church was one of Jeanie's passions, especially working with the children and being involved with the Deaf Ministry. She loved her church family very much and enjoyed singing the hymns of the faith. Jeanie was passionate about giving back to her community and was active in numerous community service projects.
Jeanie is survived by her husband Jim and her son and daughter George and Shala Ooton all of Camanche.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Florine Hart and three brothers, Bill, Buck and Joe Rouse.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
