Christian William Moyer, 85, of Cordova and Thompson, Illinois, died December 21, 2017 at Aspen Rehab & Health Care, Silvis. Services will be held 2 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Visitation will be from Noon 2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in the Cordova Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children Chicago or the Disabled American Veterans.
Christian was born January 30, 1932 in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of William Wes and Inice (Long) Moyer. He married Lois Elaine Gibbs on June 6, 1953 in New Boston, IL. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2007. Christian was very proud to have served in the US Navy, stationed on the USS Iowa and USS Des Moines. He worked as a millwright and machinist for General Electric in Morrison, retiring in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Thompson American Legion. He was devoted to his wife, Lois and his two dogs, Here Pal and Maggie. He loved fishing, being on the river, woodworking, and traveling with his wife.
Christian is survived by his siblings, Inez (Lyle) Talbot, Hampton, Judy (Jerry) Canady, Cordova, Lester (Bonnie) Moyer, Rock Island, Stanley Moyer, East Moline, Elsie Moyer, East Moline, Donna Sierra, Colona; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and his special great-niece, Jessica Pruett and great-nephew, Aaron Pruett of whom he thought of as his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; siblings, Eunice Ward, Delbert Moyer, Rosie Reynolds Vincent, Joe Moyer, and Elva Burden; and half-brothers, Samuel Ed (Grace) Moyer, and William W.
