Mr. Dale E. Hickle, 86, of Sun City West, Arizona, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, died peacefully, Saturday evening, September 2, 2017, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends.
Dale Eugene Hickle was born March 19, 1931, in Mystic, Iowa, to the late Fred and Ferna (Frost) Hickle. At 17 years old, Dale joined the United States Navy and served for 20 years. He then was employed for the Army Corp of Engineers until retirement. Dale married Deloris Mae Brown August 2, 1952, in El Monte, California, and she preceded him in death December 23, 1986. He later married Thelma Wendt May 13, 1988, and she preceded him in death January 3, 2005. Dale had resided in Arizona since 2004 which he greatly enjoyed.
He loved to travel, doing so all over the world as well as golf and spending time with his family. Dale enjoyed his memberships in the Masonic Lodge, Shriners International and Royal Order of Jesters.
Surviving are children, Rebecca Miller of South Bend, Indiana, Karon (Chris) Kastner of Kingston, Oklahoma and Bill (Mary) Hickle of Surprise, Arizona; a step-daughter, Marsha (Larry) Jungblut of Waukee, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding Dale in death were brothers Merle Dean and Norman.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness officiating. Burial will be at the Edgington Cemetery in Taylor Ridge, Illinois. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are appreciated to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Pallbearers will be Dales grandsons.
