David Lee Bowman David Lee Bowman, 87, of Clinton passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Alverno Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Public viewing and visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
David Lee Bowman was born November 20, 1931 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Cornelious and Georgeanna (Lowe) Bowman. He was a 1949 graduate of Savanna High School Savanna, Illinois. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. He married Joan Larson on June 8, 1957 in Hanover, Illinois.
Lee was a manager for The Carlon Company for 8 years retiring in 1990. Prior to that he worked for Collis and after retirement he worked as a painter part-time. He was a member of the Chancy Lutheran Church where he was a very active church member serving on church council as president and vice president over the years. He also served one term on the Clinton City Council.
He enjoyed fixing things, jumping in to help family with painting, and home improvements. He was a man that loved family gatherings, singing, dancing and playing music. He loved to pitch horseshoes and playing catch but mostly he enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandkids. His smile will never be forgotten.
Lee is survived by his loving wife Joan of Clinton, three sons: David Lee (Iris) Bowman, Jr. of Mundelein, Illinois, Bruce Neal Bowman of Champlin, Minnesota and Gary James (Joan) Bowman of Maple Grove, Minnesota; eight grandchildren: Alaina Bowman, Kelsey (Russell) Heeter, Luke (Chelsea) Bowman, Matt Bowman, Ben Bowman, Trevor Bowman, Connor Bowman and Chris Bowman; three great grandchildren: Everett, Ross and Laila; one brother: Raymond Bowman of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Timothy Bowman, three brothers, and five sisters.
Memorials may be made to the family.
