David Dierks, 79, of Springfield, died at 10:27 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Memorial Hospice at Heritage.
Dave was born March 14, 1938 in Clinton, IA, the son of Delbert and Wilhelmina Meyer Dierks. He married Jo Ann Ford Loker in 1984, and she survives.
Dave graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton, IA; earned a BA in Education from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Masters in Counseling & Guidance from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California. He was formerly the Director of the Rock Island County Council on Addictions (RICCA) in East Moline, IL.
In 1986 he became Deputy Director for the Illinois Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse; and later was Director of Sangamon County Gateway Foundation, both in Springfield, IL.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Danny and Dale, and stepson, Dave Loker.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Dierks of Springfield; step-children, Christopher and Daniel Loker, and Carmen Gooden; two grandchildren, Bryan and Alex Gooden; siblings, Larry Dierks of Park Rapids, MN, Karen Burns, Jim Dierks, and Jerry Dierks of Clinton, IA.
