Dean F. Tufford, 94, of Clinton passed away, Friday, September 15, 2017 at his home in Sarah Harding Home Clinton.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Clinton. The urn will be buried in Clinton Lawn Cemetery immediately following the service with military honors being conducted by the Clinton A.M.V.E.T.S. Dean Frank Tufford was born December 7, 1922 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Will I. and Leda M. (Cromer) Tufford. He was a 1940 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Ruth MacDonald on July 21, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri; she preceded him in death on September 10, 1988. Dean served in the United States Army from 1943-1945 during WWII in the South Pacific.
Dean worked for DuPont as a supervisor for 40 years; retiring in 1984. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 32nd Degree Mason, member of the American Legion and the Clinton A.M.V.E.T.S. Dean had a passion for golf and enjoyed many rounds while being a member of Valley Oaks Country Club Clinton. He also enjoyed playing cards and his time spent living at Sarah Harding Home.
Dean is survived by his three children: Susan (David) Marr of Olympia, Washington, William (Laurie) Tufford of Nevada, Iowa and Thomas (Gloria) Tufford of Havanna, Illinois; six grandchildren: Amy, Erinn, Sara, Kristin, Timothy and Adam; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and one sister: Monetta Heyman of Oregon.
In addition to his wife Ruth, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a special friend Mary Lou Nelson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mercy Home Health Care, Sarah Harding, or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
