Donald H. Koch, 91, a resident of Friendship Manor, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2017 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11am, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 204 Anna Street, Preston, IA, 52069 with visitation one hour prior to service. Additional visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st A, Moline. Burial will be at Preston Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 602, Preston. Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline or St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston, IA.
Don was born July 8, 1926 in Preston, IA the son of Henry and Lula (Miller) Koch. He married Marjorie Lola Maltas on June 29, 1947 in Preston, IA. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2016.
Don was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. He worked for EI DuPont, Clinton, IA.
Don was a 70 year member of American Legion Post 602, Preston, Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline and former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston, IA. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing with his grandkids, traveling, especially to the countries to see the foreign exchange students that they had hosted.
Survivors include his children, Michael Koch (Thomas Coppess), Moline, Denise (Robert) Downey, Marshalltown, IA and Lori (Robb) Ketelsen, Osco, IL; grandchildren, Lance Koch, Matthew (Sarah) Downey, Megan (Kevin) Nagel, Mitchell (Jillian) Downey, Rylie (Sheldon) Miller, Casey (Megan) Ketelsen and Cody (Emily) Ketelsen; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Leonard Koch, Clinton, IA and Harold (Betty) Koch, Sabula, IA; sisters in-law; Norma Koch, Lanesboro, MN and Ruth Koch Kleinow, Monticello, IA and many nieces and nephews.
