Donald Peter Reuter Donald Reuter, 75, of Maquoketa passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa with a visitation beginning at 9:30. A Visitation will be held Sunday, November 6 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa with a vigil service beginning at 7:00. Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Maquoketa. Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa is serving the family at this time.
Donald Peter Reuter was born on August 13, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa to Benedict "Ben" and Rita (Roling) Reuter. He married Darlene Manders on September 28, 1963 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellevue. He farmed for fifty years.
Donald was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, and the Knight's of Columbus in Preston. He was a past member of Jackson County Pork Producers Board, Farm Bureau, Jackson County Cattleman's Association, board member of Farmers Savings Bank in Preston bank for twenty years, and a Preston school board member.
His hobbies were farming, and wood working. He enjoyed traveling, and socializing. He loved spending time with family and friends. Family meant a lot to him, and his faith was very important to him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Darlene, children; Jane Miller of Maquoketa, Larry Reuter of Maquoketa, Karen (Matt) Hovey of Clinton, Sheila (Robert) Boyd of LeClaire, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, sisters; Eleanor (Leo) Casey of Fulton, Illinois, Geraldine Burken of Maquoketa, Darlene (Dale) Ketelsen of Clinton, Lois (Tom) Cloos of Bellevue, Judy (Tim) Martin of Cedar Rapids, brothers; Terry (Bonnie) Reuter of Spragueville, and Ed (Carol) Reuter of Sabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
