Donna Cassidy passed away peacefully at Bishops Glen Retirement Center in Holly Hills, Florida on November 22, 2017 with her family nearby. She resided there for 3 years after being diagnosed with ALS in 2012. She always had her tremendous smile for everyone and a positive outlook on life. Even when ALS took her mobility and her means to communicate, that amazing smile never left her face.
Donna was born in Marston, Missouri on September 25, 1937, the oldest daughter of Virgil and Inez (McNeely) Baldwin. She married Robert P. Cassidy on August 23, 1959 in New Madrid, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Home Economics. She taught home economics at Riverview Gardens High School in St. Louis, Missouri for three years.
When living in Clinton, Iowa she was very active in PEO Chapter KY, First United Methodist Church, the Clinton Country Club and served as President of Visiting Nurses. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Missouri.
After moving to Florida she was a member of Sugar Mill Country Club and loved playing golf, bridge and making her famous candies. Donna was also a woman of great Christian faith. She loved angels, and truly resides with them now.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bob, and two sons Robert Jr.(Tammi) and Richard (Donna Miles), two brothers Terry Baldwin (Detta), Joe Baldwin (Dottie), two sisters Gaila Kelso (Jerry), Sue Freed (Walt) and sister-in-law Rita Baldwin. She was so proud of her grandchildren Kristin, Ryan (fiancé Madeline), Keegan, Bridget and Jack. She was proceeded in death by both parents, a half-sister, Margret Elkins and younger brother Tom Baldwin.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at First United Methodist Church - Clinton. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Baldwin, Jerry Kelso, Walt Freed, Ryan Cassidy, Jack Cassidy, and Al Goerdt. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Baldwin, Richard Forrest, and Bob Boegel. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
