Eileen L. Schumacher, 92, of Savanna, IL, and formerly of Camanche, IA, died on December 19, 2017, at Big Meadows Care Center in Savanna, IL.
A natural journey farewell with cremation has taken place, and a private family burial will be held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa. There will be no services per Eileen's wishes. Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Eileen Lillian Schumacher was born on July 4, 1925 in Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Louis and Ida (Weede) Gruenwald. She grew up on a farm in rural Nashville, Monmouth Township, Jackson County, Iowa.
She married Ora Good on June 10, 1945 in Maquoketa, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Judy Ann and Shirley Janiece. Ora preceded her in death on January 26, 1955. She married William (Bill) Schumacher on December 18, 1956. William also preceded her in death on May 28, 1997.
Eileen lived much of her life in Camanche, Iowa near family who remember her dearly. Both of her daughters died at early ages leaving young children behind. Eileen cared for her daughters and also helped raise many grandchildren, playing a big part in their lives.
Surviving are her grandchildren: Aron (Mary) Lumbard, Jr of Poynette, WI, Laurie (Jason) Lee of Coal Valley, IL, Bobby Jean Bell (John Wilson) of Vinton, IA, and Bobby (Deb) E. Bell, Jr. of Clinton, IA; and a sister, Clara Klein of Savanna, IL. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and 1 step great-great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her parents, both of her husbands and both of her daughters; two grandsons and 5 brothers.
