Eunice Fier Eunice M. Fier, 89, of Maquoketa passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue.
Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa where a visitation will be held one hour before the service starts. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa where a Catholic Daughters Rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m. Burial will be held in the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Sugar Creek.
Eunice Marie was born on November 19, 1926 in Bellevue, Iowa to Peter and Clara (Helmle) Ties. On January 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Joseph Fier in Springbrook, Iowa. She farmed with her husband until 1977 when they moved to Maquoketa.
She was a member of Catholic Daughter of the Americas Court St. Raphael 1156, Jackson County Hospital Auxiliary where she was a chair member, a 4-H leader, worked at the school as a food server, worked at the bakery for 8 years, at Ronann's and Brock's Greenhouses, and was a member of Jackson County Senior Citizens Corporate Board. Her hobbies were playing cards cooking and trying new recipes. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memories are three children; Mary Jo (Jim) Kloft of Anamosa, Allen (Sally) Fier of Charlotte, Ronald Fier and his special friend Mary Jo Cook of Maquoketa,seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two sisters; Lillian Dondlinger, Esther (Sylvester) Deppe, and a brother; Lyle (Mary Ann) Ties all of Bellevue.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Clarence.
