Jim's life was built on his devout faith, commitment to his family, and strong work ethic. Through his actions and example Jim installed the qualities of honor, integrity, and hard work in his four sons.
Jim worked from a young age on the farm and later farmed himself. For many years he worked as an Operating Engineer, chiefly with Foley Construction Company, on many infrastructure projects in the Quad City area. Upon his retirement he and Joan enjoyed travel and visiting their grandchildren attending many birthday parties, soccer, basketball and football games.
Jim was a lifelong and dedicated member of St. Patrick's of Villa Nova and later at Prince of Peace parish in Clinton.
Jim enjoyed collecting Ertl model tractors many of which he operated in his life. He was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan. One of his most prized possessions were splinters from the goal posts after the Hawkeye victory over Notre Dame in Iowa City in 1956.
