Janice Catherine Ewing died on September 13, 2017 in her home in Hemet, California after a long illness. She was born in Iowa City, Iowa at the University of Iowa Medical Center on May 17, 1941. She was 76. She died of the ravages of this long and debilitating illness.

Janice Kathryn grew up in Clinton, Iowa in "The Shadow of the Courthouse," which was also the title of one of her brother's books; attended St. Patrick School, Mount St. Clare Academy, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1959.

During that same year, she competed in the "Miss Clinton Contest" (see attached picture). Janice married Robert Schall of Clinton, Iowa in 1961, moving to Lafayette, Indiana where Robert Schall would earn a B.S. in Physics from Purdue University.

Upon graduation, the Schalls moved to San Jose, California where Robert Schall took a position with Fairchild Semiconductor International as an electrical engineer. The Schalls would have two children, Daniel Farrell Schall in 1965 and Suzanne Catherine Schall in 1968. The Schalls would divorce in 1976.

Janice would take a position as an Administrative Assistant at Tandem Electronics & Manufacturing Corporation of Cupertino, California in 1978. She would work at Tandem for 18 years, acquiring a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Phoenix University of Culver, California, while working there, retiring at the age of 55 in 1996.

In 1978 she married David Lynn Ewing of San Lorenzo, California who studied analytical philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley, California. David loved her deeply throughout their 39 years of marriage, serving as her devoted and loving caregiver to the end.

Though not partial to any organized religion, Janice had strong spiritual inclinations and was fond of reading and writing poetry that reflected the spiritual and mystical side of her nature. She made friends easily while being somewhat of a quiet nature.

She is survived by her husband, David, in Hemet; her two children, Daniel in San Diego, and Suzanne in San Jose, California; and her three grandchildren, Ryan and Elyssa Schall of San Diego, California, and Serina Schall of San Jose, as well her sister, Patricia Ann Fisher Waddell of Clinton, her brother Dr. James R. Fisher, Jr. of Tampa, Florida and her brother, Arnold John Fisher Ekland of Carlsbad, California.
