John C. Dunmore John Carleton Dunmore, age 62 of Clinton, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home. A Mass in his honor will be held at 9:30 am on July 14, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton, IA. Immediately following the Mass that morning, a reception will be held at the Erickson Center from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm to celebrate John's life. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. John was born September 8, 1955 in Clinton, Iowa. He was the eldest child of John (Jack) Dunmore and Joan Carleton Dunmore. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. He attended grade school at St. Patrick's School through the 8th grade, then Washington Junior High School and on to graduate from Clinton High School in 1973. John attended Clinton Community College, majoring in math, including calculus and advanced statistics. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 1979.

John was employed by the Clinton Parks and Recreation Department for 45 years and kept score for over 20,000 games of various sports for both youth and adult leagues. He worked at the Erickson Center and at various other locations around Clinton. John was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him and worked with him. He had a gift of never forgetting a name after he met someone. John was an avid fan of anything sports related. He followed his alma mater, The University of Northern Iowa Panthers, as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones. He was also a lifetime Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan and had an excellent memory when it came to remembering game scores and players' stats. John also enjoyed regularly attending local games for the Clinton River Kings and the Prince of Peace Irish and enjoyed attending the Clinton
Lumberkings baseball games. John loved attending all of his family's gatherings and events and spending time with his friends and co-workers.

John is survived by two brothers; Bill, Camanche, IA, and Tom (Sandy) Freeport, IL; three sisters; Helen (Tony) Gonzales, Moline, IL, Sandy (Byron) Stowe, Port Byron, IL and Michelle
Dunmore, Madison, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by both of his parents and a brother, Mark Dunmore.
