Joseph E. Stephens, 74, of Camanche passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center - Clinton.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Joseph Eugene Stephens was born September 1, 1944 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the son of Harold J. and Pearl (Bohannon) Stephens. He married Royanne Seymour on June 4, 1983 in Clinton, Iowa. He worked for ChemPlex as a planner for 34 years; retiring in 2004.
Joe enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandchildren, attending their activities and reveling their many accomplishments. He was a very talented woodworker having created numerous heirlooms for family and friends. He was an avid gun enthusiast and enjoyed time spent target shooting. He loved fishing, wood working and camping. Joe and Royanne loved spending time in the RV traveling all over the United States and living in Florida for part of the year.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Royanne of Camanche; six children: Brenda LuBue of Kingman, Arizona, Gregg Stephens of San Diego, California, Lori Springer of Camanche, Lisa (Jay) Saxon of Camanche, Michelle (life companion Matt) Clark of Clinton, and Melinda (Chris) Landerous of Victorsville, California; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two siblings: George (Carol) Stephens and Bill (Julie) Stephens; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime best friend Sheridan "Pete" Petersen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two half brothers and two grandchildren: Marie Springer and Kaitlin Saxon.
Memorial may be made to the family.
