Kathleen Denese Bunce

Kathleen Denese Bunce, age 89 of Clinton, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at her home. In following Denese's wishes cremation have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, November 1st at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 PM followed by a reception at the Community Congregational Church, next to the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.

Kathleen Denese was born in Varina, Iowa on August 22, 1929, the daughter of Andrew and Thelma (Murray) Strodtman. She grew up on a small farm with her four siblings. Denese graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1946. She then went on to marry Meral Lange in 1948. To this union three children were born, Kathleen Ann, William Lee and Melvin Dean. Denese then went on to marry Owen Bunce, Jr in 1961. To this union one child was born, Lori Leigh.

Denese was a waitress at Woolworth's Diner in Davenport. She then worked at International Paper until her retirement. In her free time she enjoyed watching football, figure skating, and the Olympics. She loved to crochet, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family.

Denese is survived by three children; Kathy (Wayne) Kilburg of Clinton, Bill (Dar) Lange of Mexico Beach, FL and Lori Manning of Clinton; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Marietta Barrick of Woolstock, IA and two brothers, Dennis Strodtman (Mary) of Joliet, IL and John Strodtman (Pat) of DeWitt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Melvin; a granddaughter, Gwendalyn; two great grandsons, Jacob and Dennis and a brother, Bob. Online condolences may be left at www.papwefh.com.
