Kimberly Treakle

Kimberly C. Treakle, formerly of Clinton, IA, passed away peacefully in her home in Stafford, VA on Monday, May 7, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 52 years old. She believed in living a life full of love and laughter, with a personality so contagious that she made your life better. She enjoyed playing games with everyone that she loved (her peeps); especially Mah Jongg, and had a deep passion for crafts. She was particularly fond of the ocean, traveling, organizing events with loved ones, and back-seat driving.

Kim was born in Dixon, IL, the daughter of Melvin and Marlene Hagen on July 17, 1965. She was raised in Clinton, IA and graduated with the Clinton High School Class of 1983. She was employed by Elkay Manufacturing until 1999, when she moved to Olathe, KS with her son and soon-to-be husband. While in Kansas, she cherished her career at Cisco Systems and earned her B.S. Degree from Baker University. She moved to Annapolis, MD in early 2012 and then finally Stafford, VA in the fall of 2013.

Kim is remembered by her nieces and nephew Ashley Foley (Derrick), Chelsy Welch (Kody), Allison Kibler (Lee), Brianna Hagen (Dan), Kyle Fullick (Natalie), and Emily Evans. Kim will also be remembered by her parents-in-law Ben and Mai Treakle, her brothers-in-law Ben Treakle Jr. (Missey), John Treakle, and many dear friends.

Kim is survived by her husband and best friend Thanh Treakle; her son, Steven Van Dorn (Mina Moussavi); her parents Melvin and Marlene Hagen; and her brother and sisters Scott Hagen, Carissa Evans (Bob), and Dawn Hagen (Chris).

Her Celebration of Life will be held at the Camanche Community Center on July 21st between 4 and 8pm. In lieu of plants and flowers, please consider donating to the Pancreatic Action Network in her honor:
