Laverne Dorothy Myers Laverne Dorothy Myers, 102, of Clinton, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at the Bickford, Clinton. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9AM until the service time at the Church. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences are welcome at snellzornig.com. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Keith McDonald, Terry McDonald, Brian Gifford, Chuck McDonald, Kent Gifford and Scott Brincks and Great-grandson, Tyson McDonald.
Laverne was born November 15, 1916 in rural Clinton County, the daughter of Emil and Agnes (Henningsen) Diercks. She married Otto Meyer March 15, 1935 in Clinton, Iowa; he died March 3, 1957. She later married Harold Myers in 1960 in Clinton; he died in 1979.
Laverne was employed with Curtis Companies for many years prior to retiring, she was also a homemaker.
Laverne was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and she loved playing cards.
Survivors include her daughters, Myrna (Gary) Gifford of Clinton, Iowa and Judy (Dale) Denkman of West Liberty, Iowa; step-daughters, Donna Bentley of Clinton and Carmelita Rutherford of Tipton, Iowa; seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 20 great great-grandchildren; brother, Gilbert (Dolores) Diercks of Andover, Iowa and sister, Darlene Schroeder of Clinton.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cherri McDonald, great-grandson Adam Sievers, brother Vernon and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or Zion Lutheran Church.

You were a wonderful person. I came to your 100's party. You did well living to 102. RIP. You will be missed by all especially Myrna and Judy.I am in Florida so I will miss your visitation. Take care.

I will always remember the fun night we spent celebrating Ryan and Britni's wedding in our yard. Laverne and her sidekick Darlene were entertaining us with great stories until the wee hours. I think they were about the last to leave. Such a huge personality and gift of a joyful person.
