Lee Robert Barten Lee Robert Barten, age 49, of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Dewitt and Charlotte, Iowa, died unexpectedly at the CHI St. Josephs Hospital in Park Rapids in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
Lee was born on January 15, 1969 in Dewitt, Iowa to Roy and Ruth (Rickertsen) Barten. He began his public school education in Dewitt where he completed the 2nd grade. Lees family then moved to Charlotte, Iowa where he completed his education, graduating from the Northeast High School in Goose Lake, Iowa with the Class of 1987. Lee moved to the Park Rapids, MN area in 1996 where he could be closer to his father, Roy. He loved fishing the area lakes whenever time would allow. Lee had a deep love and talent for working with horses and as a younger man had enjoyed giving guided trail rides. He was blessed with two daughters: Katlin and Ashley who he loved with all his heart.
Lee will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Katlin Marx of LaMotte, Iowa and Ashley Keyes of Faulkton, South Dakota; his four precious grandchildren: Gage, Gatlyn, Freya and Nova. his father, Roy (Viola) Barten of Park Rapids; his sister, Sheila Witt of Park Rapids, MN, three brothers: Lon Barten of Des Moines, Iowa, Lynn Barten and Shawn Barten both of Tipton, Iowa; as well as seven dearly loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1998; his grandparents and his sister, Sally who died in 2015.
Services will be held 3 PM Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Circle C Saloon, La Motte, IA. Eulogies welcome.
