Lyle D. Pelham, age 90 of Clinton, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Community Congregational Church or Genesis Hospice.
Lyle was born in Clinton on September 18, 1927, the son of Earl and Adeline (Dallum) Pelham. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1945. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He was stationed in Tokyo during the occupation of Japan. Lyle married Clara Temple on April 20, 1949 in Garden Plain, IL. Clara passed away on March 31, 2011. He was an electrician at E.I. DuPont for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He sold Electrolux sweepers for 20 years and assisted at Pelham Brothers for several years. Lyle was a member of Community Congregational Church, UCC where he sang in the choir for over 60 years and was actively involved on church boards. Lyle enjoyed family activities and playing pool. He had a love of music and was known for his humor.
Lyle is survived by three children; Steve (JoLynn) Pelham of Clinton, Dan (Joanne) Pelham of Waubun, MN, and Deb (Robert) Goodell of Holmen, WI; eight grandchildren, Mike, Matt, Elizabeth, Melissa, Dave, Angela, Lena and Aaron; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Lauren; a brother, Clarence and two sisters, Violet and Leola.
