Marilyn Issen, 63, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Pape Funeral Home. Following the visitation cremation rites will be accorded with burial at a later date in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.
Marilyn was born on March 25, 1955, the daughter of Leeland and Lucille (Wagner) Hansen and raised in Ripon, WI, where she graduated from Ripon High School. She had a love for helping others, and was able to do so for many years as a CNA. She also loved animals and never turned away a stray. Over the years, she took in many cats, birds, and other animals. In lieu of flowers or gifts, she requested donations be sent to the Clinton Humane Society.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Issen of Clinton; sisters, Joanne (Peter) Knebel of Coral Springs, Florida and their children; Kathy Desmond of Ripon, WI; nieces, Nicole (fiancé, Greg) Desmond and Olivia; Steve's daughters, Jessica (Jed) Miller of Hills, IA, Leah (Scott) Zurborg of Urbandale, IA, Anna (Andy) Vetter of Coralville, IA; ten grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Sandra (Ron) Burken and their family of Camanche. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gary Klein and her mother-in-law, Alice Issen. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
