Mary's Story

Mary Jane Kunz, 94, of Clinton passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Alverno Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Kunz, Ryan Kunz, Andrew Kunz, Matt Carroll and William Kunz. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mary Jane Johnson was born May 8, 1923 in Huron, South Dakota, the daughter of Martin and Maggie (Kimm) Johnson. After graduating from high school she worked for Western Union in Huron and in Chicago, and later at DuPont in Clinton, Iowa. She married Ralph Kunz on September 28, 1949 in Clinton; he passed away on August 3, 1996.

She was a member of First Congregational Church in Clinton and active in its choir and church activities. She was a member of Clinton Bowling team and Valley Oaks Country Club. She loved to knit and her children and grandchildren and friends were all happy recipients of wonderful creations. She also loved to play piano and organ. And she loved cats and dogs.

In February 2, 2001 she married Robert Pruckler of Longmont Colorado and moved to Colorado. Robert Pruckler died and she returned to Clinton in 2011.

Mary Jane is survived by her sons: Robert (Laurie) Kunz of Clinton, Brian (Carla) Kunz of Muncie, Indiana and Gary (Christy) Kunz of DeWitt; four grandchildren: Jason, Ryan and Andrew Kunz and Alana Carroll; five great grandchildren; many step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, who she cared about dearly. She is also survived by her wonderful longtime friend Judy Shores.

In addition to her two husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

The family wishes to thank Bickford Cottage and the Alverno for the wonderful care they gave to Mary Jane.
