Ruth's Story

Ruth went to work for Illinois Northern Utility Company. She left work when her first child, Steven, was born. When she returned to work, she was employed with Whiteside News Sentinel and retired from Pleasant View Nursing Home.

While her children were in school she enjoyed being involved in their school and church activities. Ruth was an avid reader, enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in her yard and flower beds. She loved music and attending musical events. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchilden. She took pleasure in visiting with her extended family, friends, and neighbors.

Ruth attended Ebenezer Reformed Church for over 60 years. She later transferred to Emmanuel Reformed Church when her youngest grandchildren became active there.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Bush, Sally (Jerry) Lindsey, both of Morrison, IL; daugher-in-law, Charlene Reed, grandchildren, Stacey (Tim Villa) Reed, Bradley Bush, Shanelle (Jeremiah) Johnson, Seth (Heather) Bush, Rustin (fiancée Laura Howell) Lindsey; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Beth (Lester) Renkes; one brother-in-law, Lyle McDonald; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Steven Reed; a sister, Marjorie McDonald; and two brothers, Harvey Kuehl and his wife Patricia and Orville Kuehl and his wife Loretta.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving for the life of Ruth will take place on Friday, January 19 at 1pm at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison with her grandson Pastor Seth Bush officiating. There will be a time of visiting with the family in the Fireside Room from 11am-1pm. Private burial of cremains will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Reformed Church or Odell Public Library.
