Mrs. Virginia Leigh Pinkard of Brandon, Fl, died Sunday,
December 3rd, 2017, due to natural causes.
Born in Straight Creek, KY, to the late Nancy Hurst and Sam
(Mack) Stokes, she was the 2nd child of 13.
She graduated from Central High School in Big Stone Gap, VA. in 1941 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943. She married the Late Bishop Charlie Earle Pinkard while still in the Army. In 1945 she was honorably discharged and after leaving the Army, she was a housewife for three years before becoming the mother of 10.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Charlie Earle Pinkard (1995), a son, Wayne Earle Pinkard (1954), and a daughter, Arletha Fyna Pinkard (1996).
She leaves to cherish her memories, six daughters, Nancy Pinkard (Capitol Heights, MD), Margie (Richard) Neal (Brandon, FL), Arnita Pinkard (Clinton, MD), Jeanene Pinkard, (Heath Springs, SC), Tonja (Troy) Jackson (Bowie MD), and Talma (Charles) Carter (District Heights MD): two sons, Elton (Linda) Pinkard (Suitland, MD), Keith (Victoria) Pinkard (Clinton MD); three daughters-in-law, three sons-in-laws: 24 grandchildren, 54 great-grands, 1 great-great grand, 2 sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous other foster family and friends. Services will be held Saturday, December 16th, at 11:00am.
