Wilma Jean Brunner, age 87, of Savanna, Illinois, died on Monday, November 27, 2017 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna. Burial will take place in Center Hill Cemetery, rural Savanna. Memorials may be given to D.E.B.R.A. of America, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, or Rock River Hospice and Home in Wilmas memory. Wilma was born on January 1, 1930, the daughter of Dewey and Cora (Hubble) Ferris in Savanna. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. Wilma married Glen E. Brunner on March 18, 1948 in Savanna.
Wilma was a Telephone Operator for Central Telephone Company for ten years. She also worked as a Clerk for the Carroll County Treasurers Office for nineteen years. Wilma was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Chapter CE of P.E.O., and a charter member of the Carroll County Historical Society. Wilma enjoyed tracing genealogy for family and friends, reading, and volunteering at the church. She was also an Esther Circle Member and cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Wilma will be dearly missed by her husband, Glen; two daughters, Janice (Roger) Hartman of Oregon, Illinois, and Karen Coulter of Texarkana, Texas; two sons, Robert (Sheila) Brunner of Chadwick, Illinois, and Kurt Brunner of Mt. Carroll; three granddaughters, Kate Hartman of DeKalb, Illinois, Hillary Brunner of Chicago, Illinois, and Elizabeth Brunner of Downers Grove, Illinois; three grandsons, Phillip Hartman of Sterling, Illinois, Ben (Dawn) Hartman of Batavia, Illinois, and Nicholas Brunner of Sacramento, California; two great-grandsons, Owen and Emmett Hartman of Batavia; and one brother, James (Betty) Ferris of Oregon, Illinois. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Franklyn Ferris; one sister, Betty Kennedy; and one beloved granddaughter, Emily Ferris Coulter.
