Donald Ray Marburger, 85, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2016 while surrounded by family. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather and friend to anyone he came in contact with.
Don was born in Miles, Iowa on January 16, 1931 to Earlo and Eva (Johnson) Marburger. As a youth the family moved to the Johnson family homestead northwest of Sabula. He graduated from Miles High School in 1949 and then joined the U.S. Marine Corp, serving diligently at Camp Pendleton, California. His love of the Marine Corp was evident by his constant headgear, a Marine Corp cap.
After the Marine Corp, Don married Helen Faulkner of New Boston, Texas in 1957 while in training for the civil service at Red River Army Deport. He continued his civil service career at Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, California and then at Savanna Army Depot in Savanna, Illinois. After the civil service he retired to the country life in the Sabula area.
In recent years he and wife Helen relocated to Reno, Nv. to be close to family and to enjoy the weather it offered.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother Russell Marburger, brother-in-laws, Jerry Michielsen, Johnny Faulkner and Oliver Faulkner.
He is survived by his wife Helen, daughter Kathy Bishop, stepsons Mike (Alison) Ross and David (Peggy) Ross all of Reno, grandchildren Ashley Rauth, Tasha Schaffer, Sean Ross, Justin Ross, Miranda Ross, Amy Leary, Tim Caldwell, sister Ruby Michielsen of Sabula, Iowa, and numerous nephews and nieces.
