Elizabeth J. 'Bette' Kohler, 84, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center in DeKalb.
She was born February 17, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Grace (Helferich) Thomsen; Bette married Raymond E. Kohler on June 7, 1952, in Brunswick, Maine.
Bette was employed for many years at National Bank and Trust Company and Farmers and Merchants Bank both in Sycamore. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore and volunteered for Salem Lutheran Church Food Pantry. She also volunteered for DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.
She is survived by her children, Dan Kohler of Davenport, Iowa, Scott (Rita) Kohler of Sycamore, Debbie (Rocky) Piller of Crystal Lake, Brian (Jennifer) Kohler of Genoa; seven grandchildren, Cory, Mary, Brooke, Brett, Laura, Katherine, Meghan; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Addyson, Asher; three brothers, Darrel (Clarice) Thomsen of Camanche, Iowa, Mike Thomsen of Clinton, Iowa, Ron Thomsen of Camanche, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 2012; and son, Mark in 1957.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb with the Rev. Tom E. Rogers, Jr. of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore officiating. Burial will be Sunday, March 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
