Helen E. Manning, age 92, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 7, 2017 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Thomson. Burial will follow in Upper York Cemetery in Argo Fay, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Friends and family are invited to share in Helens life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Helen was born April 8, 1925 in Ideal rural Carroll County, the daughter of William J. and Neva B. (Atherton) Hans. She attended York Community High School and graduated with the Class of 1943. On August 31, 1946, Helen married the love of her life Frank Felix Manning in Ideal. They Celebrated 59 years of marriage, before Franks passing in 2006. Helen was a homemaker, she took pride in raising her sons.
Helen was a past member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Chadwick, Illinois, she was also a member of the Grange. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, embroidering, reading, square dancing. Most of all she treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by a son, Bill (Lola) Manning of Thomson; four grandchildren, Christa (Dave) Curley of Fulton, Illinois, Bryce (Jessica) Manning of Marion, Iowa, Dustin Manning of Thomson, Illinois, Alan (Wendy Benson) Manning of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Nine great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Kenny; brother, Elmer Hans.
