James Lee Cadogan, 94, of Davenport, IA, passed away Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center, E. Moline. Memorial services in celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport where his family will greet friends from 9:30 am until time of service. Inurnment will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.
Lee Cadogan was born in 1923 in New London, IA to Arthur and Delta Cadogan. He served with the U.S. Navy during WW II and on July 28, 1947, he married Edith Kadera in Sumner, Iowa. Lee was a farmer, owned his own refrigeration service and retired from Chemplex in Clinton, IA after 15 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, traveling and especially time with his family. Lee donated over 20 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross throughout his life.
Survivors include his daughters Nancy (Ed) Gable of Mount Carroll, IL and Patty (Chuck) Brockett of Shellsburg, IA; sons Daniel Cadogan of Geneseo, IL, Gary (Sue) Cadogan of Donna, TX, Roger Cadogan of Rochester, MN and Richard (Mindy) Cadogan of Plainfield, IL; sister Louise Wise and half sister Judy (Hugh) Winslow and step sister Patty Watkins, all of Davenport, along with many grand, great grand, and great great grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter Karen Bietzel, his parents, brothers Lew, Gene, and Bill, sisters Helen and Katharine, half brother Daniel, and step-mother Bernice.
