John J. Stauffer, 75, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2017 at his home Clinton.
There will be no formal services for him. His urn will be buried in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
John Junior Stauffer was born February 8, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of John H. and Esther (Clark) Stauffer. He attended Clinton Community Schools and married Cheryl Turner on June 17, 1961 in Clinton, Iowa.
John worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and later the Union Pacific Railway. He was a car man welder for 39 ½ years; retiring from the railroad in 2002. In addition to being a hardworking man he loved to spend time with his family, fishing, gardening, going to baseball games and playing cards. He was a lifetime member of the N.A.R.V.E and a member of the TCU Union. He was a supporter and volunteer for the Clinton County Special Athletes; if something needed to be done and he was able to do it then he wanted to help. John will most notably be remembered for being a funny man who liked to tease people.
He is survived by his loving wife Cheri of Clinton; two children: Kevin Stauffer and Tracy Stauffer both of Clinton; four siblings: Betty Cooper of DeWitt, Iowa, Katie Stauffer of Clinton, Bonnie Bauer of Wisconsin, Larry (Ruth) Stauffer, Sr. of Clinton and Marvin (Dee) Turner of Marion, Illinois.
John was preceded in his death by his parents and grandparents.
