Phyllis's Story

Phyllis J. Pladna age 89 of Fulton, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Mercy Living Center North. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tom Current, Scott Davis, Andrew, Aaron and Adam Pladna, Jayson Schneeberger and Joshua Wehde. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.

Phyllis was born in Clinton on August 1, 1927, the daughter of William and Marcella (Baker) Keister. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1945. Phyllis married Thomas Pladna on April 13, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church. She was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for Sinos Grocery Stores in Clinton. Phyllis was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was active with the Ladies Aid Group, the Quilting Group and the Altar Guild. She was a member of Lutheran Women Missionary League and a member and volunteer with Mercy Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, reading and was an avid Chicago Cub and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Among her many blessings were her loving husband of 65 years, Tom; a daughter, Cindy (Tom) Snyder of Fulton; two sons, Richard (Robin) Pladna and Brent (Debbie) Pladna both of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Tom (Amber) Current, Lindsay (Scott) Davis, Jessica (Jayson) Schneeberger, Andrew (Jenny) Pladna, Aaron and Adam Pladna, Jenna Pladna and Joshua Wehde; five great grandchildren, Olivia, Lilly and Maddox Schneeberger, Wesley and Wyatt Davis and two god children, Wendy Watford and Kennard Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Richard; a sister, Shirley Watford and a son-in-law, Gary Current. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
