Robert's Story

Robert Anderson, age 81, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at home, surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund has been established. Family and friends are invited to share in Robert's life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Robert was born on January 29, 1935, in Savanna, the son of Robert and Lillian (Thulion) Anderson. Robert married Jeannette Kerkove in 1954. Jeannette Passed away on November 2, 1982. Robert later married Barbara Sue Fredericks on July 28, 1989 in Savanna.
Robert worked for BNSF Railroad in Savanna as an Engineer for 43 years until his retirement in 1995. He was proud of the years he worked for the railroad, and was also a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed shooting trap, and was a member of the Mississippi Flyway Club. Robert was proud of the years he served as president of the club. At one time, he had a team of only himself and his kids. He enjoyed duck hunting on the river, and deer hunting with his sons and friends. He also raced trucks in mud bogs with his son and grandsons. He was a quiet man who loved the outdoors and going for rides in the car with his wife and his dog, Buttons.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara; five children, Tim (Margie Sanders) Anderson, Pam (Allen) Belk, Brad Anderson, Linda (Gene) Siedenburg, and Kevin (Stephanie) Anderson; three stepchildren, Nellie, Chad and Jake; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannette; one son at birth, Richard Anderson; a grandson, Brian Sedivy; one sister, June; a brother Alfred Anderson, and a grandson, Brad Anderson, Jr.
