Warren Bernard Burnett was born March 14, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Alva and Mary (Huling) Burnett. He was a 1957 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Martha Krabbenhoft on June 14, 1959 in Clinton, Iowa.

Warren worked for ADM (Clinton Corn) as a tool room worker for 42 1/2 years; retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Lyons Methodist Church, the National Trappers Association, the Iowa State Trappers Association and the National Rifle Association.

Warren was an avid fisherman, deer hunter and trapper. He enjoyed time with his family and friends and making jewelry.

While on the river in 2013 he had an incident that caused him to fall overboard. He floated/swam to the nearest lighthouse where he could only hope for rescue. Three young men happened to notice an unusual red color at the lighthouse and investigated. Warren always said if it hadn't been for his red life vest and Trenton and Hunter Alm and Mitch McElroy he would not have made it home that day. Those young men went out of their way to investigate, and take both him and his boat back to shore. His family is forever grateful to them for their help that day.

He is survived by his wife Martha of Clinton, two sons: Michael (Kathy) Burnett of Goose Lake and Steven Burnett of Clinton; two grandsons: Shawn (Carla) Bengston of Glen Rose, Texas and Kyle (Lindy) Bengston of Freeport, Florida; three great granddaughters: Bailee, Abby and Kimmie; one sister: Mary of Clinton; and his Aunt Shirley Huling of Clinton.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Matthew Burnett, and three brothers, Donnie Burnett, Eugene Burnett, and Alva Burnett, Jr.
