Miles, Iowa - Brenda L. Hackett, age 73, of Miles, Iowa, passed away Tuesday Aug. 4, 2026, at her home. Cremation rites have been accorded; no services are planned at this time. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

Brenda was born on Oct. 10, 1952 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Donald and Marjorie (Cram) Meyer. Brenda had a warm heart and a natural gift for sharing. She loved cooking for others and was an amazing mother. Her strong work ethic was matched by her love for the outdoors, where she found true joy caring for her horses and dogs.

Brenda is survived by her two children, Brandie Otten of San Antonio, Texas, and Nathan (Heather) Kromer of Port Byron, Illinois; her grandson, Blake; her partner, James Wiese and his children and grandchildren; her three sisters, Sharleen Meyer of Miles, Iowa, Jody (Kevin) Pannell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Gena (Jason) Benoit of Port Byron, Illinois; her two brothers, Owen (Rori) Meyer of Sabula, Iowa and Eric Meyer of Thomson, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ronald, her sister-in-law, and two nieces.
