Bret Lee Cummings, 61, of Clinton, IA, and formerly of Eigin,IL,passed away on February 11, 2016 surrounded by his family.He was born November 5, 1954 in Des Plaines, IL, to John and Dorthy Cummings. He was the proud father of three and had a love for music and sports. Though he would say he hated politics, he really enjoyed a good debate. The things that gave him the most pleasure were his family, friends, singing and playing the guitar, watching his sons play baseball, and playing with his grandchildren. The highlight of his music appreciation was singing with his sister at the Village Squire in West Dundee during the 1970's. He is survived by his children, Trena Cummings of Rockford, IL, John (Morgan) Cummings of Omaha, NE, Brian (Rachel) Cummings (Elmwood, IL), sister Corey (Steve) Ainsworth of West Dundee, IL, close friend and former wife Malinda Schmitt of Clinton, lA, grandchildren Allene, David, Jeffrey, and Brooks, and nephews Christopher and Curtis Ohrn. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother,Jeffrey Cummings. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday,February 20, 2016, at Bandito Barneys, 10 N. River St., East Dundee, IL 60118, from 1:00 - 5:00.
