Albany, IL - Cheryl "Cheri" E. Dornbush, 79, of Albany, Illinois, died Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lusk Cemetery, Albany. Memorials may be made to the Albany Amublance.

Cheri was born November 3, 1946, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Arlene (Schultz) Rennecker. She grew up in rural Albany and graduated from Erie High School in 1964. She was united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" Dornbush on September 9, 1967, in Albany. Cheri worked at GE in Morrison, Shaheen's Market in Erie and waitressed at Julies Café and Mississippi Café. Cheri was the Allis Connection Merchandise Coordinator for 25 years.

She and Chuck enjoyed wintering in Florida at the Florida Fly Wheelers. They enjoyed attending and putting on tractor shows. Cheri loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens and bird watching. She was talented with crafts and liked doing diamond art and teaching ceramics. Her greatest love was her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Charles "Chuck" Dornbush; children Amy (John) Haan, Cordova, Illinois, Andy (Kim) Dornbush, Fulton, Illinois; grandchildren Grace Haan, Blake Dornbush; step-grandson Ben (Beth) Haan; brother Rusty Rennecker; and many nieces and nephews. Cheri was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Connie Rennecker; and sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Donald Lechter.
