Darrell L. Bormann Obituary

Darrell Bormann passed away at home on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the age of 55.


Darrell was born March 26, 1961 in Jackson County and grew up in Sugar Creek. He was a proud employee of the Mississippi Valley Blood Center working in shipping and receiving where he provided life saving blood products to local and national hospitals. Darrell had a passion for cooking and grilling. He had a spirited kinship with the late family pug Lilly. More than anything, Darrell enjoyed the company of family and friends, especially over a good meal.


He is survived by his wife Cathy (nee Smith) of Davenport, daughters Heidi of Muscatine, Emily (son-in-law Eric Stephens) of New York City, and Kristy of Des Moines, sister Darlene (brother-in-law Ken Holdgrafer) of Bryant, sister Carol (brother-in-law Ron Lacey) of Missouri, sister Elaine (brother-in-law Chuck Legorreta) of Arizona, brother Hank (sister-in-law Lorraine) of Kentucky, brother Rick (sister-in-law Susan) of Arkansas, brother Ron (sister-in-law Jean) of Charlotte, sister Mary Kay of Bellevue, mother-in-law Mary Smith of Dubuque, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Edna, father Ed, brother Larry, Larry's wife Dorothy, father-in-law Orlin Smith, and his granddaughter Evelyn Stephens.


Visitation with the family will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sugar Creek, IA, 3218 110th St., Preston, IA on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 1 to 3:45 PM. Funeral Mass will follow at 4 PM, followed by interment in St. Joseph's cemetery. A Celebration of Life Party will begin at 5:30 PM at the Millennium Ballroom, 169 Obrian Street, Goose Lake, IA 52750. Weerts Funeral, Davenport assisted the family with arrangements.
