Douglas McConohy, 74, of Fort Smith, passed from this life August 17, 2016 in Fayetteville. He was born, July 29, 1942, in Clinton, Iowa to the late Walter and Dorothy McConohy. Douglas was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He, and his wife Penny, traveled many miles on their motorcycle and he was a regular at the Village Inn for morning coffee.
He is survived by his son, Andy McConohy of Muldrow, Oklahoma; a daughter, Amy Nelson of Clinton, Iowa; a daughter, Kris Scott of Fort Smith; a step-son, Linden Hamann of Houston, Texas; a step-daughter, Susan Hamann of Davenport, Iowa; step-son, Marc Norman of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, LaVonne Falconieri of Austin, Texas and Joan McGhee of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers, Dale McConohy of DeWitt, Iowa, Danny McConohy of San Pedro, California and Joe McConohy of Menomonie, Wiconsin; eight grandchildren, Mark, Kolby, Elizabeth, Hope, Garret, Shae, Trey, Raya and Aidan, as well as three great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Penny and a daughter Christine McConohy.
A memorial graveside service will be 11:00am Monday, August 22, 2016 at National Cemetery in Fort Smith with Marine Corp honors. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
