PROPHETSTOWN - Eldon "Butch" Kyarsgaard passed away on February 21, 2024, at Allure of Prophetstown at 83 years old. He was born in Spraugeville, IA on October 13, 1940, to Charles Alvin and Mamie (Beck) Kyarsgaard. He was the 5th out of 7 children. He joined the Army in October of 1958 and met the love of his life while stationed outside Philadelphia, PA. He married Louise Schwerdtfeger in 1962 in Berwyn, PA, and they settled outside Prophetstown where they have lived for 56 years.

Butch worked 30 years at Northwestern Steel and Wire, retiring in 1992. He worked construction for 13 years building houses and businesses in the area. He was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed going to farm sales and working on his 2 cylinder John Deere tractors.

Butch loved spending time with his family, working on projects with his children, playing with his grandchildren, and a good joke. He built a loving family, he was tireless and always lending a hand to anyone in need. His strength, determination, and kindness will be missed by all that knew him.
