Erik Bruce Farley

Erik Farley passed away on August 11 in Jupiter, Florida. He was born in Indianola, Iowa on April 5, 1939. He was Clinton High School graduate, class of 1957. He graduated from State College of Iowa (now University of Northern Iowa) with a degree in history, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon. After teaching for a year, Erik worked with World Book Encyclopedia for over fifty years.

He was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Erik was passionate about learning and teaching. He strongly believed in exercising the right to vote and during past elections he volunteered for the Democratic Party of Florida. His heart was in the Wallowa Mountains of Oregon where he spent time as a young adult and more recently with family.

Erik had a love for all people and appreciated their differences. He consistently lived his life by example and taught his children to love with an open heart. He touched more lives than he knew, and his love continues through his children and siblings.

He is survived by his wife Jacquie Farley, son Shawn Farley (Joanne), daughter Kim Colwell (Chris), son Kent Farley (Stephanie), son Todd Farley, son Seth Farley, son Brandon Farley (Lisa), step-daughter Elizabeth Barnes (Miguel), step-daughter Alicia (Derek) and step-son Ron Barnes (Andrea), brother Michael Farley (Kathy), sister Annalisa Benner (Greg), 15 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Bruce and Betty Farley of Clinton, Iowa

Donations may be made in Erik's name to Eastern Oregon Legacy Lands.
Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

May Erik RIP. He was a classmate at Lyons Jr./Sr. High before the consolidation of Lyons & Cinton School districts and a fellow classmate of CHS Class of 57. I will miss him. I always looked forward to seeing him at class reunions.

As the unofficial , but uncontested, leader of the Lazy Lane gang, Erik will be missed terribly. We all looked up to him and I want to send out all my love to his friends and his family, especially his brother and sister, Mike and Lisa who will undoubtedly carry on his legacy with their usual dignity, kindness and class. My best to you all.
