Clinton, Iowa - Gerald "Jerry" Ray Rursch, 73, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Honoring his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Jerry's life occurs at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 29, at Jerry's favorite watering hole - Ray's Timeout in Clinton. Lemke Funeral Homes is honored to serve the family of Jerry Rursch during this difficult time.

Jerry was born September 22, 1951, in Clinton, Iowa the son of Marion and Lillian (Crampton) Rursch. After graduating from Clinton High School, class of 1970, Jerry acquired an Associate Degree.

Jerry was united in marriage to Sharon Guilliams on June 12, 1976 - they would later divorce. Later in life he fell in love with his soulmate and life partner - Rhonda Smith.

Jerry worked as a Railroad Engineer for the Union Pacific.

Jerry loved watching races, whether it was NASCAR or Boat racing. He was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins. He also enjoyed bowling. He loved hanging out at Ray's Timeout in Clinton, socializing with his many friends there. Above all, he loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.

Jerry is survived by his father - Marion Rursch of Clinton; life partner Rhonda Smith of Clinton; two sons - Shannon (Bekki) Rursch of Statesville, North Carolina and Spenser (Brittney) Rursch of Landis, North Carolina; two step-sons - Brent (Beth) Smith and Matt Smith both of Clinton; five grandchildren - Makennah Rursch, Raegen Rursch, Briggs Rursch all of North Carolina and Acre and Liyam Smith of Clinton; two sisters - Kathie (Randy) Eizenga of Morrison, Illinois, and Cindy (Butch) Nimmick of Clinton and one brother - Boyd "BJ" Rursch of Florida; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Preceding Jerry in death was his mother - Lillian.
