San Diego, California - James Brayton Dunk 73 of San Diego California passed away on June 28, 2026. Jim fought hard to stay strong fighting ALS ( Lou Garrett disease). With the care of his wife and daughter and the love of his dogs. Following Jim's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded to. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Clinton Iowa.

He was born January 14, 1953 to Leon and Elizabeth Stewart Dunk in Clinton Iowa.

Jim married Jeanne Bauer January 12, 1973 and have two children Jacob and Jessica.

Jim loved fishing and boating on the Mississippi River and spent his younger years hunting and was a big Hawkeye fan.

Jim retired from Exelon Power Plant.

After selling their home in Goose Lake, they pursued a life of full-time RVing Jim's biggest joy was being in California spending time with his grandson Benjamin. He loved watching and hearing about Benny's Basketball and soccer games. Taking Him to the Zoos was very special for him.

Jim is survived by his wife Jeanne, son Jacob (Melissa) grandson Benjamin, daughter Jessica, and his sister Linda Dunk Frerichs.

Preceding him in death his parents Leon and Elizabeth , Arnold and Helen Bauer and sister Barb Dunk Behrens.
