John Andresen Obituary

Clinton, Iowa - John Owen Andresen 85, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on Friday, October 31, 2025. Honoring his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 7th, at Lemke Funeral Homes-South Chapel. A visitation will occur before the service from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. The burial will take place immediately following the service at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.


John was born March 14, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa. He was the son of William and Betty (Beane) Andresen. He was a 1958 graduate of Clinton High School.


John was united in marriage to Betty Faur on February 17, 1962 at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Clinton. He was a member of Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church.


He worked most of his adult life at ALCOA retiring as a Shift Supervisor in 1998. John loved the outdoors. His hobbies included golf, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed attending many Ducks Unlimited and Whitetails Unlimited events. John was a member of the Savanna Historical Society Model Train Club. He loved baseball and was a Little League coach, as well as, serving as the Commissioner of Little League Baseball in Clinton. He was also instrumental in overseeing the construction of the Honeywell Baseball Field Concession Stand. He also found time to be a Cub Scout and Den Pack Leader. John was an exceptional wood craftsman and when he found time, often built wood furniture for family and friends. After retiring, John spent countless hours supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events and other school activities.


Above all, he loved his family very much and loved to babysit his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand-dogs. John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be incredibly missed.


John is survived by his four sons, Bradley Andresen of Clinton, Michael (Anmarie) Andresen of Lake Villa, Il.; Brent (Jill) Andresen of Preston, IA.; Craig Andresen (Kristi Miller) of Elgin, Il.; daughter Michelle Bower (Kelly Cook) of Rapids City, Il.; special friend- Darla Jorgensen of Clinton; five grandchildren Haley (Ross) Milne; Dalcy Andresen (Justin Coil); Craiton (Paige) Andresen; Clare (Kevin) Grady; and Will Andresen (Katlyn Downs); seven great-grandchildren (Isla, Ivy, Chloe, Kamry, Carson, Caiden and Cassidy); one sister- Cindy (Johnny) Rinderknecht of Homer, Alaska; and many nieces, nephews and friends.


Preceding John in death are his parents; his wife, one son-in-law, one brother, one sister and other family members.
