John Wesley Eads Obituary
Ames, IA - John (Jack) Wesley Eads passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, family devotion, and a lifelong passion for the hair profession and for horses. Jack built a distinguished career in the hair industry, owning and operating several hair salons in Clinton, Iowa, and in Florida. He also owned McEads School of Cosmetology in Clinton, where he trained and mentored many students who went on to successful careers of their own. His influence in the industry was lasting and deeply respected.
A true horseman, Jack spent countless hours training, riding, and caring for his horses, finding joy and purpose in the bond they offered. This passion remained a defining part of his life.
Jack also had a deep love for pickleball — he enjoyed getting new players started, loved the competitiveness of tournaments, and cherished the friendships and connections he made on the court.
Jack was never afraid of change. He had a charismatic personality, a one of a kind spirit, and an enthusiasm for life that drew people in. Jack was a true motivator, someone who inspired others through his energy and example. His stories were known for their vivid detail, often told with the kind of color and life that made them unforgettable.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Eleanor, who passed away on August 11, 2002; his sister, Phyllis Jean; and his parents, Everett and Phyllis Eads.
He is survived by his children, Patrick (Dawn) Eads of Iowa City and Michelle (Mark) Chasey of Ames; and by his grandchildren: Tyler (Bethany) Eads, Brody Eads, Madeline (David) Nelson, Nathan (Ashley) Chasey, and Nick Chasey.
He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Eleanor and Daniel Nelson.
Additional survivors include his sister Pat (Dick) Sack, his brother Bob (Mary Jo) Eads, and his sister Linda (Harry) Petersen.
