Linda Lee Wood Boothby Puckett Obituary

Midland, TX - Linda Lee Wood Boothby Puckett was born on August 25, 1940, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Walter and Wylma Wood. She went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2026, at home, with her beloved husband, Robert Puckett, by her side.

Linda spent her early childhood working on her grandfather's farm, where she learned the value of hard work and perseverance. She later moved to Delmar, Iowa, and graduated from Delwood High School in 1959. Committed to education throughout her life, Linda earned her bachelor's degree in 1980 from the University of Dubuque, with an emphasis in Special Education, Teaching, Coaching, Physical Education, and Art. During her time there, she was named to the Dean's List and was a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma.

Linda possessed a natural gift for teaching and guiding others. She began by teaching swimming at the YMCA in Clinton, Iowa, and went on to work in residential care for individuals with disabilities at Hempstead and Franklin Schools in Dubuque. Her dedication to helping others carried through every chapter of her life. After more than 25 years as a semi-truck driver, she brought that experience into the classroom, teaching truck driving at Northeast Community College Driving School and later Driver's Education.

In retirement, Linda continued to share her talents and passions. She found joy in teaching, crocheting, and gardening, touching the lives of family and friends in countless ways. Her beautifully handcrafted crochet blankets were cherished gifts, each one thoughtfully made and eagerly received.

Linda met Robert Puckett in 1993, and they married in 2009. Together, they shared a life filled with love, companionship, and faith.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Puckett; her sons, Conrad (Katy) Boothby of Cotopaxi, Colorado, and Nicholas (Heather) Boothby of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her brother, Loras (Sara) Huilman; and her sisters, Rita (Donald) Schmidt of DeWitt, Iowa, Helen Wood of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Lucinda (Gary) Jorgensen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jacob Boothby; her brothers, Walter Wood and Chuck Wood; and her sister, Kathy (John) Sawvell.

Linda will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and dedication to her family and to helping others learn and grow. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

She will be cremated. Services are pending.
