Michael Fullerton (Mike) Obituary

Marshalltown, Iowa - Michael "Mike" Dean Fullerton, 59, of Marshalltown, Iowa (formerly of Clinton) passed away at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown on Monday, January 20, 2025. Funeral services take place at 11 am on Friday, January 24, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation occurs one hour prior from 10 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial immediately follows at the National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Lemke Funeral Homes is honored to serve the family of Michael Fullerton during this difficult time.


Mike was born November 4, 1965 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Donald and Georgina "Nancy" (Belson) Fullerton.


Mike enlisted in the Marines at age 17 and served 9 years as a machine gunner. During Operation DESERT STORM, Mike and the Marines he led were among the first to make contact with the Iraqi army. Mike loved his County and was proud to have served in the USMC.


Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corp, Mike returned to Clinton where he owned and operated River City Pipe Benders and Trailer Depot in Clinton. Mike was a life-long mechanic and enjoyed helping others with their mechanical needs. He loved riding his Harley anywhere, but especially loved taking long trips and new adventures. He loved all of his fur-babies (his dogs) he had throughout his life. Above all, he loved his friends and family (especially his daughter Karissa) very much and will be greatly missed.


He was a member of the AMVETS, member and organizer of the Patriot Guard, volunteered with Honor Flight, served as a director for River Boat Days, organized Miles Dirt Days, and heavily involved with Clinton Toys for Tots as long as his health allowed him. He was passionate about helping those in his community and surrounding areas. He was a part of many other clubs and organizations related to snowmobiles, quads, shooting ranges, etc. He also loved his Pepsi!


Mike is survived by his daughter - Karissa Fullerton (fiancé Manny Salinas) of Denver, CO.; one sister - Jolene (Earl) Curtis of Joliet, IL, in addition to nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents.
