Regina Darda Obituary

Clinton - Regina Maryann Darda, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at Mayo clinic, Saint Mary's Campus, in Rochester, Minn., on Saturday, September 21, 2024, after a brave 14-month battle with B-Cell lymphoma. She maintained her witty sense of humor throughout.

Funeral services will take place at Prince of Peace Church in Clinton, Iowa, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. and funeral mass at 11 a.m. with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. Family will host a luncheon at the church following the burial. Lemke Funeral Homes is honored to service the family of Regina Darda during this difficult time.

Regina was born April 16, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Anna Kammermeier. She graduated Loyola University with a bachelor's degree in Education in 1963.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Darda on December 28, 1963, in Chicago - together for 60 years until Regina's passing.

Regina was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself to service. She was an active member of Prince of Peace, and formerly Sacred Heart parishes. She also volunteered with meals on wheels and many other organizations in the Clinton area.

She loved spending time in spiritual reflection, taking long walks, enjoying nature and watching birds. She especially enjoyed western shows and novels by the author Louis L'Amour and was herself and eloquent writer. She traveled frequently to visit her children and explore the lives they made for themselves — always with acceptance and an open heart. Above all, she loved her family deeply and valued every moment with her children and grandchildren.

Regina is survived by her husband, Ray, four daughters and one son - Ann Darda of Boston, Mass., Jeanne Button of LoneTree, Colo., Terese Kollmann of Portland, Ore., Amy Hertz of Palm Springs, Calif., John Darda of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren - Sasha, Cody, Iris, Alice; and her sister Rosemary Mondi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Frank; brother, Ralph; and infant son Joseph.
